What a difference a day makes!  Tuesday June 17 the NXTcomm showfloor opened with an estimated crowd of 35-40,000 attendees working the floor and attending conference sessions.   One of my more interesting visits of the day was an extended discussion with the folks from Redmond, who are cutting a high profile at this mostly telecom show.

I arrived a day early at the
NXTcomm 2008 show
, formerly known as Supercomm and now merged or operated in concert with several other telecom and wireless shows - including Infocomm, Broadband Wireless World, and Light Readings' Wireless Conference - making it the largest telecom show held in the United States.

 NXTComm was moved from Chicago to Vegas this year, to take advantage of Vegas larger convention facilities and to attract silicon valley types like myself.

I will be debating what kind of software applications are likely to be driving the mobile computing market with  some colleagues from the industry next week in Las Vegas at the NxtCom 08 conference.  While I was attending a different conference this week in Silicon Valley, i accidentally discovered a killer mobile productivity app:  running SharePoint sites from my iPhone.

I just returned from spending the better part of two days at a compelling conference organized by the Silicon Valley Association of Startup Entrepreneurs (SVASE), held at Microsoft's Mountain View Campus, and sponsored by Garage Technology Ventures: Launch Silicon Valley 2008 . A networking reception was held Monday evening prior to the conference at Cooley Godward Kronish headquarters in Palo Alto. 30 startups were picked from a field of 250+ applicants to present their business strategies, technologies, and go-to-market strategies at the conference.
