Always On Summit at Stanford 2008 Tech Startups Entrepreneurship
Always On Summit at Stanford 2008 Tech Startups Entrepreneurship
Goldspot Media: Replacement as technology for broadcast television on mobile - maps to targeted demographics of subscribers on mobile phones.

inTouch: mobile 'iBrowse' platform brings quality browsing experience, content to 2G mobile phones.

iBeatYou: using star power to build a fun, interactive video social networking site.

we7: social networking oriented music site with involvement by Peter Gabriel, who's quite an accomplished entrepreneur in addition to being a major recording artist and artistic innovator.  Presentation: Music industry revenue decreasing due to declining sale of physical music media, accelerating sales of media online.   Business model: 1. sell digital music downloads.  2. sales of merchandise and tickets.  3. Ad funded streams and downloads. 1% click-thrus with high CPCs - audio oriented advertising. Content deals with SonyBMG, Sanctuary, V2, Netwerk, Bliss, IRIS, Ingrooves, ('late stage discussions':) BFM, PIAS, EMI, Warners, Universal.  Great PR reception in UK.

SOA Software: gave their presentation in reverse, starting with the "conclusions" slide - could this become a trend?  The problem is, i never really could figure out what exactly this startup does. SOA = search oriented architecture, "The use of a search engine as the main integration component in an information system".  I may have to watch this presentation again, in reverse.

ZipClip: send web content to your phone with a right click; Freemium business model.  A 16-year old actress ably demonstrated the product: "oh wow, I can just right click and send the Sara Lawrence photo to my friends".  Score one for this startup knowing how to get their message across!  I am not sure about this startup; but the confident and poised young lady doing their 'user pitch' definitely has a future in Hollywood!

I was definitely underwhelmed by these three startup presentations.  But that's just one impression at one point in time.  They may go on to become raging success stories; stranger things have happened!
